The actual entry fee for the Cocoa Village Marti Gras is $1000. For that Thousand bucks, we are provided with about $300 buck worth of throwing beads(I know this because I buy from the same bead company). Never mind the fact that without the floats, nobody would show-up, pay admission, and buy beer and food ! Anyway, Not having much money, we raided several construction sites for free lumber. We borrowed a trailer from a friends brother to start our float. We use the "free" lumber to built a basic frame around the trailer to give it shape. We then attach 4 by 8 press board sheets to form our pirate ship. We found some blue carpet in a neighbors garbage for the breaking wave on the side. We used peach basket mounted to an empty carpet roll for the crowsnet. Follow this up with a funky paint job and a rockin' sound system and you have an award wining float !
